The fortnightly Banffie column

We are delighted to have a fortnightly column in the Banffshire Journal.

This page includes scans of the various articles with the latest at the top. If you click on an article a bigger version will appear

We are on the look out for guest authors and can provide a more or less intense editorial service. It would be ideal if a couple of good quality photos could be included.

The ‘old pictures’ story was written by George Clark rather than Colin Murray as stated. Adminisrative hiccough – apologies!

Banffie today 9-7-2013

CORRECTIONS: of course, they have edited to suit themselves: they have added 2 sentences together, thereby confusing the performances! There should have been a full stop after Fiona. The workshop during the Haal was with Helen Munro and Fiona Williams, the performances of the Portsoy Players were at the boat festival in the children’s tent and involved ace director Nancy Duncan. I also wrote ‘sessions’ (regarding the traditional music tuition) not ‘syllabus’. As a tribute to John Watson I played his old (restored) guitar :)

Johnny Stewart’s exhibition will very shortly be on show in the shop on South High Street so fondly remembered by many as Laura’s fashion shop. Hope you’ll come and admire the wonderful paintings and drawings on display (and for sale!).

Johnny says I made it look as if he was the only one who was instrumental in the transformation of Loch Soy, but of course it was a team effort! You will be able to read the whole interview, illustrated with photographs, on our website soon, when I have discussed any corrections to the text with Johnny. Watch this space!

One Response to The fortnightly Banffie column

  1. Mark Thomson

I am trying to trace information on the maker of a clock I have. I’am informed it’s a Scottish brass face round dial long case ( grandfather type) clock, inscribed on the face Ja: Johnston Portsoy . I would welcome any information on this clockmaker, when and where he worked.
