The Essence of FaithsWhispers from everywhere
|
Egypt's White Desert |
All spiritual paths lead to the
same mountain top. Cultures and people may appear different but spiritual mountaineers,
whatever their source, grasp an underlying Unity which results in their peaceful
fearlessness and sense of compassionate belonging in the world. The brief articles in this collection are from many sources but, in their different ways, they say the same thing. Lao Tzu, Gautama, Shankara, Bodhidharma, Hui Neng, St Augustine, Meister Eckhart, Thomas a Kempis, and many nameless spiritual heroes have, through compassion, tried to put words on that state of interpenetrating Oneness which exists beyond the grasp of language. The articles do not form a logical sequence. They may be plucked at random. Suck them and see. If they result in your reflecting on your 'self' and becoming more aware of what you notice and how you think - then they will have served their purpose. |

The articles were first published as Words of Faith for 'Mopheme' an independent newspaper in Lesotho |
